Korean flower-boy band FT Island raised a wave of extreme popularity on their first visit to Taiwan, and their images during the six-day trip was also constantly changing. Offstage, lead singer Lee Hongki has the most perception of fashion and constantly plays stylist in their dormitory, often helping his members put outfits together.

During their concert, the five-member band put on a good show, emphasizing on FT Island’s real talent, and that they were not just any “idol boyband”. But when it comes to their title of “flower-boys”, all of them had positive reactions to that, stating that it was a compliment of their looks, and there are lots of goodies from being a flower-boy.

Hongki, who had a big popularity rise after his role in ‘You’re Beautiful’, announced proudly that “because of me, Jonghun has gotten lots of good stuff!” Jonghun agreed in response, “It’s true, when you go out with him you don’t usually have to spend any money. You get food and other stuff for free most of the time, so when I go out I have to bring Hongki with me.”

In FT Island, both Hongki and Jonghun admitted that they are the ones who love shopping the most.

Hongki likes dark colour schemes, and cannot resist anything with skull designs on them. Jonghun, on the other hand, prefers clean and classic styles.

Jaejin, the one who always gives a treat and is the most knowledgeable about saving up, actually does not spend much on clothes at all. He said, “I just wear whatever I see in front of me when I wake up everyday. So Hongki usually puts together something for me first.”

Seunghyun also exposed that Minhwan always wears the same clothes, because he washes them after he wears them, then wears them and washes them again in a constant cycle. The 4-D boy also said, “I like formal, branded clothing, and looking like a rich bachelor.”

However, Hongki stepped in to remind him: “But there is nothing branded in your closet!”

Despite their busy schedule, the five boys managed to do a photoshoot for this fashion column. With them clad in colourful Brook Brothers menswear, the photoshoot was fun and lighthearted, leading to the boys of FT Island lamenting that they want to go on vacation, after an entire day of accepting interviews in their hotel.

Despite their average age of 18, the members of FT Island were exceptionally conservative when it came to how their girlfriends would dress. When asked whether they would like girls to be dressed in a fresh manner or in a moderately sexy style, Jaejin replied: “I’m really scared of girls who dress really stylishly, because it feels like it’s hard to get close to them. If someone dressed like that confessed to me, I would probably reject her immediately and run away.”

As for their girlfriends, the five boys once again had the same answer: “Nope, definitely no showing of skin!

F.T. Island members, Hongki, Jaejin, Jong Hun, Min Hwan and Seung Hyun, are well-dressed despite the blazing weather at the outdoor fanmeet in Thailand. If I were to rank them among all the Korean pop boybands in terms of fashion, F.T. Island would definitely make it to one of the top few.

Their smart casual outfits always have a twist of uniqueness in them. Even in monochromatic outfits, the details and accessories on them just makes the whole look impeccable.

Let’s start off by looking at Hongki’s outfit for that day.

Though Hongki’s outfit is all black and white, his cow-print moccasins make the look so unique. The neck-scarf and shirt is also very visually-appealing due to the contrasting colors (i.e. the white part of the scarf with the black part of the shirt, and vice versa).

And he matches the outfit with 3 red, black and green rings (which kind of remind me of the Comme Des Garcons Play collection) on his little finger.

Next up, Jaejin!

The main focus of Jaejin’s outfit is the pair of paint-splattered, ripped white denims, and his combat boots. Combat, laced-up boots are really popular among the boybands like 2PM and SHINee now. F.T. Island members also wore combat boots here.

Jong Hun is the best-dressed of the day, in my opinion.

Jong Hun looks great in that checkered blazer, black vest, white hareem pants and cute slip-ons! And that huge brooch on the blazer totally caught my eye. Adding a badge or brooch (or many of them that complement each other) to a blazer, jacket or cardigan changes the style and the whole look totally.

Minhwan’s look is always simple yet interesting.

Loving the contrast between Minhwan’s drapey inner shirt with his white, well-fitted blazer. And of course, his combat shoes are gorgeous too.

Last but not least is Seung Hyun.

F.T. Island members look very well-coordinated together even though the dressing styles and looks are pretty different- their uniqueness and individuality really shines through.

F.T. Island members, Lee Hongki, Choi Jong Hun, Choi Min Hwan, Lee Jaejin, and Song Seung Hyun attended the 16th Korea Entertainment Arts Awards ceremony and won the Male Singer award!

The guys appeared in blazers of different colors, designs, cutting and textures. Each of them are totally fashionistas. Anyway, I noticed that recently, the F.T. Island members’ fashion sense are getting better and better! Is it just me or did they change a new stylist? (This was F.T. Island stylist noona I saw)

All except member Lee Jaejin paired their blazers with drop-crotch hareem pants. Loving the black hareem pants paired with those black combat-looking boots on Hongki, Minhwan and Jonghun!

Seung Hyun’s whitish-beige hareem pants look kinda weird for me with those black boots.

I bet you would have guessed it right! Yes, the most memorable event attended is the Sundown Festival- Seoul’d Out Singapore press conference featuring T-Max, Brown Eyed Girls and FT Island (Huge thanks to Red Spade Entertainment).

Why is it so memorable? To be up close with those idols, and able to see, in real life, that they really have such awesome fashion sense was just a great experience.

You may have seen the main press conference posts here, here and here, but I’ll share with you the fashion aspects during this press conference!

Here’s Lee Ji Soo in a stylish smart casual look. Lots of details on him- the embellishments on his blazer, the tag necklace, and his Nike high-cut sneakers with gold trimmings (not shown here).

Park Si Nae and Mario both turned up at the press conference in pastel colors. I’m in love with the choice of colors- very korean-ish. Park Si Nae looked really elegant and demure in her white dress with her minimalistic make-up and simple bun.

Interesting textures on the simple dress made her look really stylish, and the see-through capped-sleeves reveals her sexy side. Lovely!

T-Max were in monochrome outfits. Simple but with interesting touches.

Totally impressed with Brown Eyed Girls‘ choice of footwear! So hot!

But the one that impressed me the most was probably FT Island’s stylist Noona!

She sports a trendy assymetrical bob, completed her edgy look with scarf from Alexander McQueen, blazer with exposed zipper, extremely shredded jeans (up to her thigh) and fierce leather wrap peeptoe sandals. HOT!

Kokokoreano went for the Sundown Festival- Seoul’d Out press conference and we saw F.T. Island up front and personal! Held at Marina Mandarin Hotel, Gemini Ballroom at 1.30pm today! We were only only like one meter apart from them, and we just went on a snapping like there was no tomorrow.

Their stylings are, as usual, awesome! They were all in smart suits and jackets, with a touch of uniqueness in each of them.

Seung Hyun was seen in a formal double-breasted blazer, but the brooches on it make him look so much more fashion-forward.

If you see Jae Jin’s inner white shirt clearly, it’s not just a simple shirt! There’s words inside! So unique! And he matches his formal outfit with a pair of Doc Marten boots to make it seem more like a smart casual look. Nice touch!

Min Hwan was in a shirt-and-tie combination, but throw on a leather jacket, and the formal look gets played down.

The-always-fashionable Hong Ki was in a white blazer (prince charming!) and a casual printed tee!

Jong Hun’s blazer itself looks darn unique! With the purple trousers, his outfit just kinda stood out.

^ Stylist noona was putting lipbalm on Hong Ki and adjusting Jong Hun’s scarf because we requested for outfit shots!

[Hong Ki] From the last time, this is our 2nd time here. Really thank you for inviting us here again. In future, we hope to have a concert of our own here.

Qn 2. You have a very big following here in Singapore. What do you have to say to fans who have bought the tickets to the event?

Well it has been awhile since we last came here and I’m really excited to be here. I’m really glad to see all of you here and the opportunity to meet you fans is a real good thing.

[Asked by Kokokoreano] Qn 3. Is Hong Ki’s character in the popular drama series ‘You’re Beautiful’ as Jeremy similar or different to his character in real life?

[Hong Ki] *Looks at me and ask in Korean, “Do you think it’s the same or different”.* Well, I would say about 70% of our characters are the same?

FT Island was the 4th group to come out. I heard some loud scream from the fans waiting outside, which meant that FT Island was somewhere in the lobby!

The five members walked into the conference room and flashed smiles. I died! It was my first time seeing them, so I was really lucky to see them so close! How can they be so good looking and charismatic?

Hongki had a red right eye and very dry chapped lips. All the others looked happy and well. Hongki did most of the talking, alongside Minhwan.

Hongki was asked how similar was his character in real life compared to his character in You’re Beautiful, Jeremy. He was so cute to rebutt the interviewer with a “Do you think we’re similar?” jokingly.

But he said that he was 70% similar to Jeremy in terms of character. I agree. He even shouted at the end of the interview, “LET’S PARTY” or something along that line.

Someone asked if they needed to have a female member in their band, what character would they want the girl to have. Hongki said “glamourous” in English, slightly mispronounced lol.

The interviewer couldn’t catch the word so there was this flurry of ‘glamourous’ in the air. The final glamourous Hongki said sounded like camourous rofl!!!! So cute. The entire conference room burst out in laughter ~

Despite Hongki’s red eye, he was still verrrrrrry hyper today! He was such a cutie, pulling down his lower eyelid to reveal his red eye to everyone rofl. Then Minhwan just reached over immediately to cover his eye lol!

Jaejin is good looking as hell hehehe. Even better looking upclose. Seunghyun was very friendly, though quiet. He did peace signs and waved to the cameras.

Jonghun was making cute faces in the background during the interview, puffing up his cheeeeeeeeeeks. They were all signing albums during the interview and damn, I REGRET NOT BRINGING MINE ALONG.

After the press conference was over, the security guard let us back into the conference room where I picked up the pen Jonghun used hehe. They were having a one to one interview in the next room and we could hear them talk through the wall.

One last look before I left. When the interview room’s door opened, I saw Hongki briefly! This time he put on a pair of heart-shape shades in white, and looked even better than ever. ;D
