Alice meets high fashion thanks to the Wonder Girls’ latest photo spread with VOGUE Korea.

The five girls each portrayed a specific character from the classic children’s story suited to their individual quirks and charms. Despite the light and airy feeling of the original, the Wonder Girls turned it into something wonderfully dark and eccentric, akin to Tim Burton’s take on the story.

Sohee played the part of the White Rabbit, while Sun Ye chased after her as Alice. Ye Eun became the White Queen, sitting majestically upon a wooden horse. The stark contrast between her black dress, dark lips, and platinum hair added to the dark atmosphere of the pictorial.

Yoobin transformed into the Mad Hatter, who looked to be asking his trademark riddle, “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” Lim portrayed the Red Queen, complete with red locks à la Burton. Lim’s red fur and hair looked stunning against the monotone color scheme of the Mad Hatter.

Yoobin and Sunye from Wonder Girls prove that they are not just singers, dancers, but also models. Through this shoot for W Korea magazine, the girls show off their versatility through various styles and looks.

With a printed blouse and a striped sleeveless suit jacket from Dolce & Gabbana, the girls show off boyish yet elegant charms.

Then, the girls show off a softer, fairytale-like look with white wedding dresses by Lee Myung Soon. Sunye‘s red hair shocks against the white dress, while Yoobin‘s loud hair ornament by Bell & Nouveau says it all.

To end it all, the duo poses in blonde wigs and dark makeup, exuding sexy charm from black leather outfits. Outfits by Rick Owens, Givenchy, Jain Song, Cartier, Alexander Wang, Ce Soir and Boontheshop.

On 8th April 2011, Wonder Girls, along with Hoobastank, headlined Twin Towers @live 2011, a free two-night concert held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The concert expected a large audience of both locals and tourists, and even set up 8 mega-screens around the famous twin towers for those that did not manage to enter the venue.

Other performers included Yuna, Bunkface, Colby O’Donis, The Earth Wind & Fire Experience, etc

Kokokoreano will only be covering Wonder Girls’ performance.

Everyone was getting hyped up after all the local performances and while Wonder Girls were busy preparing backstage, the emcees of the concert danced to their own rendition of Nobody while fans sang and screamed along.

After what seemed like forever, Wonder Girls finally appeared on stage and performed the English version of 2 Different Tears.

As told by Yeeun on Twitter, Yubin just dyed her hair ash brown, bidding good-bye to her red/blond since last year.

They wore their newest denim leather promotional outfit, the third time after MBC Korean Music Wave in Bangkok and China Mobile Concert in Beijing. They followed with the Korean version of “So Hot,” “Irony” and “This Fool.”

Sohee thanked the fans in Malay and then they asked what’s “I love you” in Malay. They then sang their ballads “Saying I Love You” and “This Time.”

The Girls then told the audience they’d probably know what song they’re going to perform next. Yeeun gave a hint by doing the famous body wave that took Korea by storm in 2008.

After Tell Me, while the crew was preparing the Nobody microphone stands (which appeared for the first time since Yeeun tripped on one in June 2010), the Girls taught the audience the dance to their famous hit, and Sunye thanked everyone for coming to see them.

They finished off with Nobody, which everyone sang, screamed and shouted along to the chorus.

Unfortunately, the media was asked to leave the media pit after the first two songs, so we don’t have shots of other 6 performances.

Wonder Girls

The Wonder Girls are now in the spotlight – no, not for TDT or music-related, but for being in the spotlight of attention around the fashion scene. They were invited and spotted at the hottest events of the industry in New York, USA once again.

Wonderfuls were eagerly (stalking) waiting for the WG’s latest updates on Twitter. They devotedly updated their status and posted selcas when the event commenced. Check out Wonder Girls World blog too!

Their event list in New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week included South Korea’s own Concept Korea – Interactive Waves 2011, a second follow-up to KOCCA and CDFA’s union to promote South Korean designers. It was opened by none other than their old senior, Rain.

The Wonder Girls attended three designers’ shows from Kwak Hyun Joo of PUCCA, Lee Juyong of RESURRECTION, and Lee Jean Youn for her self-named label.

But of course, they attended American designers as well – their loyalty to Tory Burch shows how they attended her show earlier in the year, and again graced front-row seats this time around.

A surprise came from them as well to attend Jeremy Scott! The five was spotted together with the funky designer on his Twitter (@ITSJEREMYSCOTT), with their funky get-ups from Jeremy Scott Fall / Winter 2010 collection as well.

Sunye, Sohee and Hyerim has something in common – their tops, but it’s Sohee who pulled the attitude well along with her two hairbuns which compliments her age. Yenny and Yoobin had the same patterned-top too, but Yoobin (I sadly should say) looks ridiculous and over the top in wanting to look like a preppy high-school girl with her different colored knee-high socks and suspended skirt. I acknowledge her effort to try look different, but it doesn’t compliment her fierce cool attitude!

Nonetheless, they should’ve enjoyed there time there, being on par with Kanye West and Kelly Osbourne as their opposing side seaters.

The other event, FASHION NIGHT OUT, was another big-scale shopping extravaganza fashion event held by Vogue around the world. There weren’t many official pictures of them around the event, but their Twitter updates again, let everyone know where they were. Bottega Veneta and Roger Vivier were the few shops of the many they visited, and met Leighton Meester and Rosario Dawson.

You’ve seen the men, most of them going for the beast concept or donning the classic suits — but now, let’s get the lowdown on the ladies’ performance outfits for the Dream Concert 2010!

Each year, the ladies’ performances get fiercer and fiercer, as they start shedding their cute images and experimenting with sexier outfits and consequently teasing with more skin. I’m sure the fanboys are not complaining! Who was the fiercest of them all in last night’s ball?

Find out below as we line up the performance outfits of your favorite female KPop idols:

The girls of Rainbow went the schoolgirl route with their song, Gossip Girl.

However, they should have just kept the Blair Waldorf school girl look rather than trying to mix it up with the black and white stripes, because this only ended up making the concept/theme look all over the place. Their outfits were a bit blah and too casual for me. And for something as big as the Dream Concert, there’s really no room for safe dressing.

No change of outfit for our f(x) girls tonight, too!

Like SHINee, their male counterparts in the SM Family, the outfits of f(x) went straight from the red carpet to the stage, wearing amped-up red variations of their Nu ABO outfits. I am loving the girls’ unique, experimental style — you’ve got to admit, they don’t fit into the cookie-cutter styling of other girl groups who are all either: a) cute/girly b) fierce/sexy c) funky/Lady-Gaga-inspired.

Although, Amber? Plaid shorts over jeans? I don’t get it.

The ladies of Davichi were a tad bit underdressed.

White blazer and light denim shorts — while this outfit does look good in general — this is something you’d wear for a dinner with friends, or even to the mall. Not the Dream Concert. Note to Davichi’s stylist: that small amount of gold sequins don’t automatically make anything glamorous.

T-ara transformed into Korea’s cheerleaders that night as they performed their World Cup song.

The fanboys also loved it when they continued to sing Bo Peep in these outfits. While cheerleading outfits are a surefire crowdpleaser, they could have done more variations for every individual’s outfit other than the different pins and brooches they put on their skirts. Also, not a big fan of the huge “Cielo ♥ Egoist” print on their shirts.

Fresh off their first few comeback stages, 4Minute stuck to neutral tones tonight, but still managed to keep things interesting.

I think their stylist/s pulled off a great feat: the girls’ outfits looked mismatched and unique–but similar enough to still look coordinated. Still lacking that extra wow factor though! (Although Hyuna‘s fiery red hair and hot dance skills more than compensates for that!)

And we see a re-appearance of the black and white stripes, this time on the gorgeous women of After School.

It is very disappointing because I’ve seen versions of their drummer girl costumes which are LEAGUES better than these striped, shimmery ones. I personally would recommend their simple red-and-gold or black-and-gold ones, because these drummer outfits (and their bare navels and long legs) are stunning in themselves, and could have looked fantastic onstage.

First look at Kara and the word ‘mermaids’ would probably come to mind.

Okay, while these outfits may seem too gaudy and slinky for most, we have to remember that these are stage outfits. When you’ve got a huge crowd of fans, most of which can only see a dancing speck on stage–the flashier and shinier, the better. Kara made the boldest color choice that night, and that deserves some merit. Although yes, the mermaid-like material is disturbing, and they could have gone with black footwear.

Korea’s original pop princesses are back, but their Dream Concert appearance has me crying 2 Different Tears.

First, I’m crying for joy: I love seeing the Wonder Girls back in Korea! Second, I’m crying because of their outfits! Unflattering light denim + scraps of lace + neon hair add-ons? And this from the girl group who captured the hearts of the entire world in their all-out retro concept for Nobody! Who can forget those iconic colorful mod dresses and those scene-stealing flapper dresses?

Girls, you better step your fashion game up!

Girls’ Generation channeled the King of Pop again that night!

Their Michael Jackson inspired black military jackets with strong, sequined shoulders made the girls look classy and stunning. Their looks were made even more interesting and stage-appropriate with their shiny tank tops and leather knee-high boots. If you noticed, it was the perfect mix of their Run Devil Run and Oh! concepts.

The Queen of KPop is back and looking younger and fiercer than ever!

Really, who else at the age of 31 can pull off this outfit but Lee Hyori? Her military-inspired, tough chick outfit was simple, but nobody can doubt the powerful impression it made! An outfit, indeed, is only as good as how its wearer carries it. And nobody does it like Lee Hyori.

Overall, many of the ladies could have done a lot better. Or is the Dream Concert not as much of a big event as the year-end music festivals? What do you think? Tell us in the comments below!

Kim So Yeon (as Ma Hye Ri in Korean drama, Prosecutor Princess) matched the DvF dress with Suecomma Bonnie heels (that is well-loved by Korean celebrities as well) for ‘Prosecutor Princess’ promotional shots.

Fashionista Seo In Young matched this dress with a beautiful blue belt and black stockings for an event during New York Fashion Week Fall 2010.

Last but not least, Wondergirls’ member Park Ye Eun wore this fabulous dress at a red carpet event during their recent visit to Taiwan.

The Wonder Girls landed in Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport and caused a huge commotion with their stylish, superstar, appearances. The moment they were out, Ye Eun, Sun Ye, Yoo Bin, So Hee and Hae Lim were welcomed by the Taiwanese fans and a huge amount of media people.

Well, mine is undoubtly So Hee’s. So Hee’s ensemble was also the one that caught my eye when the Wonder Girls arrived in Singapore in March 2010. With that black wayfarers, leather coat, rocker-vibe necklace and Balenciaga motorcyle handbag, she looks hell of a superstar.

Introducing ‘Retro Super Future’ sunglasses, the one that Sohee had been spotted with on the streets of Seoul, during the Wonder Girls’ tour in America, and at the arrivals in Singapore Changi Airport.

The basic shape is Retro Super Future’s take on the classic wayfarer- slighty oversize and offered in a myriad of colors.

Just in time for summer Super Basic shape wayfarer sunglasses in bright neon Pop colors such as the Super Sky blue, fluorescent green, fluorescent yellow, fluorescent orange, and fluorescent red.

The particular design Sohee was spotted with is Bi-colore Miami. In bright fluorescent sky blue in the front and pink at the sides, it not only brings out the quirky side of her, it also makes her stand out from the usual black and brown sunglasses often seen on celebrities.
